# Send a new message from the recipient to a donor

> Creates a Donoremail row from the recipient to a donor. When admin approval is required for outgoing recipient mail, the row is saved with `status=pending_approval`; otherwise it's queued for delivery and returned with `status=sent`. Optional attachment is referenced by an S3 storage key (the file must already have been uploaded via the recipient-portal upload endpoint).
